The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has published UK Priorities in Semiconductor Metrology and Standards, a report setting out how the UK can strengthen its position in next generation semiconductor technologies.
As global markets develop beyond traditional silicon, trusted measurement and agreed standards are becoming central to innovation and international competitiveness. The report identifies 12 priority areas that will support the UK in translating scientific expertise into industrial benefit. These areas include advanced materials, three dimensional structures, sustainability metrics, heterogeneous integration, and device reliability.
More than 500 experts from industry, academia, government and national laboratories contributed to the publication. Their input has shaped a practical and ambitious set of priorities for the UK’s semiconductor landscape.
The report is available to download through NPL’s website: UK Priorities in Semiconductor Metrology and Standards (Semiconductor-report_ONLINE-VERSION_v2.pdf)
NPL is now focusing on delivery. The organisation will work with partners across the UK to build the measurement capabilities, standards leadership and collaborative innovation needed to support a resilient and competitive semiconductor ecosystem.
