With a background in semiconductor engineering, Derek has over four decades of experience in technology development, government relations, and industry leadership.
At NMI, he led the organization’s growth to become the UK’s leading industry body being at the forefront of industry, academic and government collaboration.
His contributions to the UK technology landscape include co-founding the UK Electronics Skills Foundation and being personally invited by the Business Minister to develop an Electronics Industrial Strategy and Sectoral Council. His work for the sector was recognised by an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Glasgow in 2010.
