SUMMARY:Commodity Codes and Import Declarations
DESCRIPTION:COMMODITY CODES AND IMPORT DECLARATIONS\nRegister for FREEOn January 1st 2022\, two changes came into effect that importers and exporters should be aware of. The World Customs Organisation updated the Harmonised System so there have been a number of changes to commodity codes\, especially for electronic products. \nFull import declarations are now required for all goods entering GB from the EU at point of import and a new digital system is in place to manage the increase in data. \nThis essential 30 minute webinar led by TechWorks and The International Trade Consultancy will cover: \n\nWhat are commodity codes?\nHow can I check my commodity codes are still correct?\nWhat do I need to do if they’ve changed?\nHow does the new import declaration system work?\nHow will it affect my business?\n\nHosted by\nLucinda O’Reilly \nLucinda O’Reilly is an international trade consultant with over 10 years’ experience of global imports and exports. As the Exports Director of Ecotile Flooring she developed a successful UK focused manufacturing company to export to over 40 countries worldwide. Having successfully managed Ecotile’s transition through Brexit Lucinda set up The International Trade Consultancy to provide support to companies struggling to navigate the new regulatory landscape and supply chain challenges caused by the pandemic.

SUMMARY:NMI Semiconductor Meet & Greet
DESCRIPTION:NMI Meet & Greet\nBOOK NOWIntroducing the very first free to attend NMI: Meet and Greet event 24th November at the Holiday Inn\, Newport.\nThe global semiconductor industry has drawn an increasing amount of attention in recent times as it is not only economically important\, it is also a strategic sector that is vulnerable to supply issues. It should be of little surprise that national governments are reviewing their positions as a consequence – including the UK government – as we emerge\, post-Brexit and post-pandemic. \nAnd as we look to re-connect\, its critically important for industry to re-establish working relationships\, seek new partnerships\, and catch up on developments that may have been missed while we’ve all been away. Perhaps you’re even looking for a new opening\, or to find a few (perhaps young) new recruits too? \nWe hope that you’re as keen to ‘get back out there’ as we are. If you are\, consider yourself invited to a new type of networking event from NMI – specifically designed to help the UK’s semiconductor industry emerge together and strong. We’re simply calling it\, NMI: Meet and Greet – it’s is an ideal opportunity to network and re-engage. It’s also free to attend as well! \nWe tend to think of Meet and Greet as a supply chain event\, yet it is much more than this as it brings together a rich and diverse set of stakeholder groups including Manufacturers\, Designers\, Suppliers\, Universities. We’ve also invited students along too as they consider their future career opportunities. \nMeet and Greet is hosted by NMI – the home for the semiconductor industry in the UK. \nNot an NMI member? Not a problem – come along and meet the team. \nFIND OUT MORE ON OUR DEDICATED PAGE

SUMMARY:R&D Workshop on Devices\, Sensors and Systems for Flexible RF Communications
DESCRIPTION:RF wireless systems and solutions are important and high growth technologies that have a wide range of applications in key sectors such as communications\, defence\, consumer and transport. \nIn particular\, the increased demand in Machine-to-Machine (M2M) RF wireless communications for wide bandwidth\, high power\, tuneable and flexible systems in RF is a key business driver. This in turn is pushing development and innovation across the value chain including systems and device design\, sensors\, antennas\, packaging and materials. \nThere is a significant level of RF device\, component and systems know-how capability in the UK. The purpose of this workshop is to bring the broad supply chain together to discuss the challenges in flexible RF and gain an understanding of the state of the art in industrially-oriented R&D. \nThe aim of the workshop is therefore not only to communicate current innovation activity\, but provide the community a platform from which to collaborate and develop new ideas and projects. \n\nAgenda \n10.00     Registration\, Coffee and Networking \n10.30     Welcome & Introductions by Roke Manor and NMI \n10.40     Stephen Wales                                                 Roke Manor \nUltrawideband Power Amplifiers and Predistortion \n11.05     Rob Rolley                                                           General Dynamics \nThe Internet of Things for Defence \n11.30      Mark Barrett                                                      Blu Wireless \nIntegrating multiple millimetre RF front ends with a flexible baseband processor \n11.55     Richard Holmes                                                 Keysight Technologies \nMonitoring based on distributed Sensors\, the use of radio spectrum and resolving interference \n12.20     Peter Cockburn                                                                Xcerra \nSmart Things Need Flexible Test \n  \n12.45 – 13.45      Lunch \n  \n13.45     Andy Sellars                                                       Innovate UK \nSupport for RF/microwave device technology \n14.00     Mike Geen                                                         Filtronic \nMillimetre wave technology for multi-gigabit mobile networks \n14.25     Ian Davis                                                              Diamond Microwave Devices \nHigh-powered GaN transmitters \n14.50     Raj Rayit                                                               Saras Technology \nMulti-Protocol\, Multiband Band PA Development \n15.15     Kevin Morris                                                      University of Bristol \nFlexible RF Tranceiver Technology \n15.40     Close\, Coffee and further networking \n  \n  \n[button type=”transparent” shape=”square” size=”mini” float=”right” href=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” style=”font-size: 20px;font-color: white;”]Print[/button]

SUMMARY:R&D Showcase: Integrating Wide Bandgap and High Performance Silicon Semiconductors into Systems
DESCRIPTION:Progress in wide bandgap semiconductors is opening up significant market opportunities in high performance electronic systems. However\, to ensure maximum performance impact\, this is creating significant challenges and opportunities in system design and integration that affects the entire value chain. At the same time\, the application of systems thinking to high performance silicon-based systems are also developing at a rapid pace. \nRecent Technology and business roadmapping by Powerelectronics UK has shown that there is considerable UK industrial and academic R&D activity across the high performance system value chain from materials growth through to system integration. \nThe purpose of this workshop is to showcase key R&D projects that are being carried out within the UK community\, covering the supply chain and engaging key end markets such as Automotive\, Aerospace and Energy. \nThe aim of the workshop is therefore not only to communicate current innovation activity\, but provide the community a platform from which to collaborate and develop new ideas and projects. \nDraft Agenda\n10:00  Registration\, Coffee and Networking \n10:30  Welcome and Introduction – NMI & Cranfied University \n11.00   GaN electronics: what can epitaxy enable\n– Trevor Martin\, IQE \n11.25   The PowerGaN Consortium – Current Status and Future Plans\n– Iain Thayne\, University of Glasgow \n11.50  GaN on Si Development for Lighting and Novel LED Applications\n– David Wallis\, Plessey Semiconductor \n12.15     Long term  reliability in harsh environments\n– Rob Coleman\, Semelab \n12.40 – 14.00      Lunch \n14.00  Theme of Widebandgap systems integration in Automotive\n– Luke Evans\, Jaguar Land-Rover \n14.25   Using Nanostructures to Tailor GaN Based Light Emitting Diodes to Meet System Requirements\n– Duncan Allsopp\, University of Bath \n14.50  Advances in Reliable Low Cost SiC Power Devices\n– Peter Ward\, Anvil Semiconductors                                                                   \n15.15  Progress towards PE technology white paper” and “diamond – the missing link for carbon electronics\n– Gareth Taylor\, Evince \n15:40  Event Close \n  \nSponsorship Opportunities\nFor sponsorship opportunities\, please contact Alastair McGibbon. \n  \n\n[button type=”transparent” shape=”square” size=”mini” float=”right” href=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” style=”font-size: 20px;font-color: white;”]Print[/button]
